Psychological Types and Model of Consciousness

An independent study of Carl Gustav Jung’s theory of psychological types and the nature of consciousness

This website presents a distinct model of consciousness that builds on Carl Gustav Jung’s typology while developing it further.

Its focus is on the psychological attitudes (extraversion and introversion) and the psychological functions (sensation, intuition, feeling, and thinking). The functions of sensation and intuition, however, are redefined as the perception of invariants and the perception of changes.

The model describes not only the structure but also the dynamics of consciousness. Psychological types are understood as a consequence of this dynamics.

The concepts of the psychological functions and their interrelationships differ fundamentally from those used in MBTI and Socionics and are based on a different understanding of the psyche.
